The Day All Creation Will Sing
"Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
'To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!'" Rev. 5:13
I encourage you to reread the captioned verse and then answer this question: Who brings praise and honor and glory to the Lamb?
Were you surprised, as I was, to notice that every creature (whether human or not) is going to be part of the praise chorus?
When God created the animals he gave them sounds. Birds sing different songs depending on their type and God is pleased with their songs. Wolves howl at the moon with the voice God gave them and He enjoys listening to the wolves baying at the moon. One day all the birds in the air, the fish in the sea, and the animals on land will add their voices to the worship of their creator. What a day that will be.
The sobering fact is that even people who are not Jesus followers are going to admit that He is who He says He is and they too will join the chorus of praise. Imagine spending a life time not knowing about this great future event then one day being so overcome with the presence of the Lamb that the only possible response is to join the worship.
Jesus followers everywhere are waiting for this worship service to begin. It will be a worship service like no other. Unfortunately, some of us are so focused on this event at the end of the story we forget that Jesus commissioned us to go and bring as many people as possible to this great worship service.
As disciple-makers it should be our goal to help people find their place in God's great story so they are well prepared for the final worship service. When we are successful in making new disciples the next goal is to help these new disciples replicate the process over and over again until everyone on earth has had an opportunity to become a disciple of Jesus.
There is a lot of disciple-making work yet to be done.
