The Harvest Comes in God’s Time
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
For several decades we prayed for a lady. Then one day we got a call that she was on her death bed. Within minutes of arriving at her side my wife began to share how she could know Jesus and live with him forever. Minutes later she passed peacefully into his presence. There definitely were times when we wondered if she would ever surrender to Jesus.
In our training events we emphasize that discipleship is hard work. Very few people are brought into the Kingdom through our eloquence in skillfully presenting the case for Christ. A more effective way is to do life together. Through friendship people get to see first hand the impact that Jesus has had and is having on our lives. They get to see how we handle mistakes and confession. They learn there is no way to be good enough to earn entry into the Kingdom of God. In relationship we get to demonstrate love for them as a person and to be reflectors of the love Jesus has for them as well.
F4L is in a season of harvest after many years of hard work. The vision for training people how to actually do discipling in a way that simultaneously developed them as disciple makers was born in our founder may decades ago. Prayer and training continued throughout the years. Then recently God began to give the increase.
The ministry has expanded to 20 countries. Thousands of people have been trained as disciple makers. Ordinary people are discovering they can be equipped to guide others on a path to knowing Jesus and becoming fruitful disciple makers themselves.
In Burundi regional discipleship training events had a big impact on five churches who are part of a larger denomination of more that 200 churches. The impact and growth in these five churches led denominational leaders to ask our national director to speak at the upcoming national convention to introduce the concept of disciple making to a larger audience.
Let us not become weary. There is a proper time in God's calendar when He decides that the seeds we have planted are ready to be harvested. To God be the glory.
